Born in 1978 Cairo, Egypt. During his early training at medical school, he kept connected to his art through drawing and through his increasing knowledge of anatomy. After graduation in 2001, he specialised in heart surgery, obtaining a Masters Degree in 2007, then Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Walid is currently employed as a cardiothoracic surgeon at Leeds Hospital.
While in Cairo he studied visual arts at Cairo Design Academy, 2008, developing a widespread understanding of international art movements. He attended Leeds College of Art life drawing classes in 2012.
"My art is an introspection through an experimental path. Perception of reality and meaning of things started at a certain point in life, a point where colour changed from variety into an entity, and lines turned from randomness into significance. The whole existence converges back to that point - the conscious singularity."
