“Death Is The Sound Of Distant Thunder At A Picnic” WH Auden
The song is based on the plight of all those who try to reach a place of freedom and safety and is a response to the deaths of father Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez, and his daughter Valeria who drowned attempting to cross the Rio Grande.
Reflecting on a sense of history of the suppressed, by those with power; ‘the law wielding a big stick for those who have, and a wafer thin veneer of protection for those who don’t have’.
“Home of plenty – for a few
One law for me but not for you
Land of justice – for a fee
Chase those Golden Coins”

HQINDIE: “… cool and playful … groovy and emotional …soulful and heartfelt”
WHENTHEHORNBLOWS: “the theme is awesome, …an engaging listen as it transitions through its genre influences… definitely a show stopping tune!
SHONA OLIVER: “It’s so well thought out it’s more a work of literature than a song. I love songs like these that mean so much more than what immediately meets the ears…”
