An exhibition celebrating the county of Yorkshire and its people through the art it has inspired and the artists it has produced.
The blockbuster show at Harrogates Mercer Art Gallery features over 100 paintings, photographs and sculptures which highlight Yorkshire’s influence on some of the finest artists the world has seen.
A new book, Art and Yorkshire: From Turner to Hockney accompanies the exhibition. Written by Harrogate’s Curator of Art, Jane Sellars, with a preface by Alan Bennett. The book includes 150 illustrations of paintings, prints, drawings, photographs and sculpture.
The exhibition is part of the Yorkshire Festival 2014, 100 days of art and culture to celebrate Le Grand Depart of the Tour de France.
