Born in Paris in 1917, Carlos and the Nadal family moved to Spain in 1921.

In 1930 he began his formal art education studying in Barcelona, until being conscripted into the Republican Army in 1936. In 1945 Nadal left Barcelona, to study at the Academy of the “Grande Chaumier” in Paris; a student of Ossip Zadkine. In 1948 the newly wed Carlos together with his wife Flore, moved to Brussels, where for the next decade he exhibited regularly and received many prestigious commissions. By the early 1960’s Nadal spent an increasing amount of time Spain, setting up home and studio in Barcelona, and at the same time travelling extensively on painting trips throughout Europe, and the America’s.

Carlos Nadal died in Barcelona in 1998 at the age of 88.
