Born in China, Dong Ding is a recent MFA graduate from Edinburgh College of Art, studying contemporary jewellery design. Engineering techniques influence his work to create kinetic jewellery with moveable parts. The jewellery is made to interact with the wearer.
Moving on with today’s technology, Dong creates mechanical structures and digital jewellery, experimenting with 3D printing and digital components. He continues to explore contemporary design in his PHD at Edinburgh College of Art.
Dong Ding has exhibited his jewellery worldwide, including Shanghai and London. He was recently included in The Goldsmiths’ Centre Exhibition, as one of ten jewellery makers recognised as an emerging designer.
