Beth Holmes: Between Worlds – New Exhibition at 108 Fine Art, Harrogate

We are pleased to present Between Worlds, a solo exhibition by artist Beth Holmes, showing at 108 Fine Art, Harrogate for the first time. The exhibition opens with a private view on Saturday 3rd May 2025, 2–4pm, and will be open to the public from Tuesday 6th May until Saturday 14th June 2025.

Exploring Landscapes, Still Life and Virtual Space

Beth Holmes approaches her work with a curiosity and an openness to different forms of making. Her process moves fluidly between the physical and virtual, from painting landscapes near her home in Cumbria to building and filming imagined worlds in virtual space. Whether working with oil paint or digital tools, her interest lies in how ideas can take shape.

Between Worlds brings together three strands of her recent practice: landscapes rooted in the wild coastal edges of Cumbria and the Scottish Borders; city scenes that reflect the more ordered spaces of London’s parks and squares; and a selection of surreal still lifes inspired by 17th-century Dutch painting and personal symbolism. As Beth describes the Cumbrian terrain, “It almost looks like the landscape is covered with fabric” — a comment that speaks to her instinct for metaphor and texture across all areas of her work.

A selection of paintings from the exhibition will be available for purchase, including landscapes, still lifes, and works from Beth’s abstract series.

Between Worlds runs from Tuesday 6th May until Saturday 14th June 2025 at 108 Fine Art, Harrogate. We are open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, with private viewings also available by appointment.
