Souls and Stars

Lyrics >>

Souls and Stars

(Loosely based on the story of Harry Patch – The Last British Tommy)

You gently smile at your photographs – Vivid Days of youth

You never spoke and you never will – Of how Country & King Failed You

But I see it in your eyes – Heaven knows you must be tired

and It’s time to settle down – settle down

(Chorus) And I know that you were – Caught up in your own sweet world – and I know that you were cold – for so long – you gorgeous thing

Somerset Boys singing brave – shilling in their hand Come along son, there’s nothing to lose – We’ll make men of you

Farewells whispered down the line -saw your young friends tumbling down – and you told them to be brave and settle down

(Chorus)

Fields Sown with Mothers Sons – Orchards of souls and stars

The distant shouts – The bark and bite The dance of your Lewis Gun

But You Know You’re out of time, as your old pals gather round

And they told you to be brave and settle down

(Chorus)

Autumn

Lyrics >>

Autumn

Autumn Leaves are Falling Winters Coming Soon

Spring arrived like yesterday Soon be coming home to you

Angels play accordians Singing Out of tune

Drinking whisky and wine – raise a glass one last time

Then I’ll home to you

Many roads I’ve followed Paths I’ve crossed a few

But I’m Sailing no more Both feet on the shore and I’m coming home to you
